New London police seize synthetic pot, $34K from store

New London police raided a city convenience store late Tuesday, seizing thousands in cash, synthetic marijuana and about 1,000 pieces of drug paraphernalia.

The raid at Sam's Food/Ravi Petro at 290 Broad St. came after an investigation into the illegal sale of synthetic marijuana.

More than 500 packages of synthetic marijuana were seized, along with $34,000 in cash, about 1,000 pieces of drug paraphernalia, numerous pieces of what police described as packaging material for narcotics, drug cutting agents, scales and concealment devices. Police also seized numerous bootleg DVDs and illegal weapons, including "brass knuckles" and switchblade knives.

Charged was Sunny Singh of 150 Broad St. Police did not list his age, but said he was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, operating a drug factory and possession of a dangerous weapon. He was held on a $25,000 bond and arraigned Wednesday in New London Superior Court.?
