64th International Astronautical Congress

Welcome Message from the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee

On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, I?m honored to invite you to participate in the 64th International Astronautical Congress (IAC), which will take place from 23-27 September 2013 in Beijing, China. After the 47th IAC in 1996, Chinese Society of Astronautics is privileged to host IAC for the second time in Beijing.

Currently, the members of the local organizing committee are working very hard for the preparations of this Congress so as to provide excellent services for your participation and try to make this event successful.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, many countries have advanced greatly in space exploration and applications. As the host country of this Congress, China has made great achievements in its space program as well, which includes manned spaceflight, lunar exploration, applied satellites and satellite applications, etc. The results of space technology have been widely used in various fields such as economy, science and technology, culture and education.

This Congress will provide an excellent opportunity for participants from various countries and regions all over the world to share and exchange ideas and experience on space science and technology. I believe those exchanges will deepen the friendship between the space colleagues from various countries and regions, and promote international cooperation, so as to make even greater contributions to the peaceful utilization of outer space.

Beijing is an ancient city with a history of over 3,000 years. This occupies a very an important part in China?s 5,000-year-long civilization. At the same time, Beijing is a vibrant modern metropolis, which serves as a microcosm of China?s rapid development since its reform and opening-up. It?s very convenient for domestic and international transportation and unique in food, culture, sightseeing and shopping with special local characteristics. I am sure the IAC 2013 held during the late autumn, with Beijing at its most picturesque, will stay in your memories for a long time.

Looking forward to seeing you in Beijing.
