Concert: New Mexico Symphonic Chorus & Orchestra Present Haydn & Bernstein

The season begins with Franz Joseph Haydn's late masterpiece best known as the Lord Nelson Mass. When handed an orchestra without a woodwind section, Haydn rose to the occasion. The chorus is joined by a chamber orchestra and organ to present this magnum opus in its original splendor. The program also features another sacred work, Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, which brings to the stage the drama, mystery, and majesty of several of the great psalms, sung in Hebrew and powered by brass, harps, and thunderous timpani.
