Karachi : ? Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said Safari Park and Karachi Zoo were being made exemplary with the cooperation of citizens.
A steering committee comprising of animals and birds lovers and volunteers would be formed in this connection for consultation in the administrative affairs of these recreation points.
He said this while chairing a meeting on the improvement and up gradation of city s recreation points, attended by the Senior Director Sports, Culture & Recreation Rehan Khan, Director Karachi Zoo, Director Safari Park and other officers.
It was decided to establish a steering committee for running of administrative affairs of Karachi Zoo and Safari Park. The steering committee would be comprised of such people who would not only take care of the animals and birds in these recreation points but also guide the administration in the cleaning and sanitation works.
They would also provide cooperation in the medical check-up and preparation of diet plan for animals and its implementation.
The Committee would also give its recommendations for adopting procedure regarding enforcement of safe import for animals with proper tax rate fixed by the Sindh Wild Life Protection Act 1993 and CITES and it would also assist in the maintenance of record of existing and newly inducted captives.
Hussain Syed on this occasion appealed to the citizens to come up with suggestions for brining improvement in the recreation places of Karachi and join hands with us in the better keeping of animals and birds and maintenance of cleaning works in these two recreation points.
He expressed hope that the participation of citizens would put positive effect on the measures taken for the improvement of city s recreation places and the citizens would get even better recreation facilities.
