Graduation celebrations begin for nearly 1,000 Waltham Forest College students

Students graduated from courses in BTEC Diplomas, Higher National Diplomas, Higher National Certificates, English as a Second Language and Access to University courses. Nearly 1,000 students from Waltham Forest College celebrated graduation last week.

Gathering in Walthamstow Assembly Hall for a ceremony, students were recognised for successfully completing studies in subjects ranging from BTEC diplomas to Access to University courses.

One student, Adedayo Onabadejo, who gained distinctions in his Access to Computing and IT course will now move on to study for a BSc honours degree in Computer Science at Queen Mary, University of London.

He said: ?I am really happy to have secured my place at such a good university.

?I worked really hard and my teachers really helped me a lot.?

Chair of the College Corporation David Pendle said to the students: ?You should regard today as the beginning of your life-long learning experience knowing that you will be developing yourselves forever.?

Robin Jones, Principal of the college, said: ?If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people.?
