? Dr. Oz's Three Day Detox Challenge

Andrew Ebers- Health and Fitness editor

Dr. Oz?s three day cleanse

Earlier this week on the Dr. Oz show, the good doctor introduced his viewers to a new detox diet. The three day cleanse? uses three smoothie meals a day to flush out the pesky toxins that we consume in our day to day life. These toxins cause us to feel bloated, gain weight, and feel terrible.

I went on Dr. Oz?s three day cleanse to see what it was all about. The detox consists of four meals a day, all in liquefied form.

A sample detox plan from doctoroz.com

??????????????? I started out this detox plan at a weight of 190 pounds. If all things go right, this detox should make a dent in my overall weight.

The meal plan begins with your detox tea, which is just green tea with lemon. After your tea consume your breakfast smoothie. Then take half your multivitamin/probiotic supplement. Then it?s on to your Lunch smoothie, and the second half of your multivitamin/probiotic. Next, take your snack smoothie, which is your choice of one of the three smoothies. Finally, you have your dinner smoothie as your last meal of the day.

Dr. Oz also suggests a detox bath. This bath consists of Epson salt and lavender oil. Having been injured regularly during my martial arts history, I can tell you that Epson salt is a miracle worker. It contains magnesium which helps you relax your body and heal nagging aches and pains.

So far I have found the detox easy to follow and affordable. The only problem I have is dealing with the cravings that I get for solid food during the day. It is a lot easier to deal with that most of the detoxes I have gone through in the past though. As long as you stay disciplined, and remember that it is only three days, you should have no problem completing the detox. It just takes little effort.

All you need to do to follow along is a blender, and 16 dollars. The ingredients can be seen above in the ?shopping list? section of Dr. Oz?s diagram.

I?ll leave you with a few tips before you begin your transformation. First, freezing your smoothie ingredients will make a big difference in taste and texture. I always suggest freezing your fruits, frozen pineapple is the best. Second, remind yourself that you only have to be on this detox for three days, it makes it easier. Third, it is always a good idea to check with your physician before making any drastic changes to your diet/lifestyle, just to make sure it is right for you.
