WCBS-TV reporter Scott Rapoport lost his father just last month. Below is the eulogy Scott wrote for him.

My father is the finest man I know. He is my hero, he is my best friend. He was my rock, my sounding board, my counsel ? and my conscience.

I know many of you know exactly what I?m talking about.

This was a man who looked after his friends, his clients and his family. He fought aggressively and courageously in their best interests. He was a ferocious protector, and if you were with him, you would suffer no harm.

People talk about loyalty like it?s an admirable catch phrase.

My father was loyalty.

His capacity for love was infinite. I?ve never known someone who could love with such a full heart. As formidable as he could be, he was a tender, lovely, gentle man.

From as early as I can remember, as a little boy, my father gave me the most incredible gift: He made me feel safe.

The kind of ?safe? Where no matter what happened, no matter how bad things got, no matter how badly I had screwed up, he had my back. And it would always be ok.

But make no mistake. When I made my mistakes, my dad was all over me, making sure I understood and learned from them.

But no one would ever damage me, hurt me, or take unfair advantage of me. Not on his watch.

He was the most loving man I know: Selfless, generous of spirit, eloquent, elegant.

He was the father all my friends envied in high school ? and I loved that.

Anything good I ever did was because of him.

Any success I ever had came because of him.

Now I?m a father, and I have the best little boy in the world, Jakey. I love him with every fiber of my being. Yet I know I will never come close to the wonderful father my dad was to me.

I wish I could be.

No one could be.

It?s the best compliment I could give him.

I love you dad. You are always in my heart.

And thank you for loving me.
